Zambia (Victoria Falls)

We flew from Capetown to Johannesburg - where we stayed with some of our new friends for a couple of days.  They lived in Pretoria (about an hour from Joburg) and in a holiday destination of its own.  We met this family while we've been in Ghana and they are a blessing!  They were also home for the Easter holiday.  This portion of the trip, just a 2 day stopover was JUST what we needed!  We did some local things like breakfast at a Cheese Farm, a visit to the Lion Park, and just hung out!
Then we were off to Zambia - home of Victoria Falls.  We stayed at a swanky hotel (a little too swanky and not enough kid friendly), got drenched from waterfall spray, did a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, Brett flew in a teensy contraption OVER the falls, and we laid by the pool, etc... We did cross the border into Zimbabwe as well (so close you could walk) and viewed the falls from there as well.  I think Zimbabwe  has better 'views' while the falls are actually IN Zambia.  We were there at the end of rainy season, meaning the water was to capacity everywhere and you couldn't even be near the falls without experiencing spray that felt more like a tropical storm.  The guide said if you go in the dry season, you might not get any spray at all.  It was interesting learning about all the different times of year and how different your experience can be.

We got RIDICULOUSLY soaked!!  The kids loved it!!

Souvenirs and we are headed for SAFARI!
We drove from Zambia to the border of Botswana, got on a little boat to the other side and then were picked up in an OPEN SAFARI CAR for our hour ride along bumpy Africa roads!  The boys were in HEAVEN!  I love this photo - I think it says it all!  The open road, in the middle of nowhere......oh Africa!!!!
