African Adventure Take Two - part one - MONKEYING AROUND

We headed out of town for another weekend of Africa Fun - thankful again for the car and driver service.  Whew- the roads were BUMPY and it took a very long time to go only 100 miles.  :)  But, totally worth it!  On the way out of town, we just happened upon these crazies sitting along the highway and in the ditch.  We will be going back to visit them and the rest of their buddies another day when we can stay longer.  They are so terribly ugly that they're almost cute right?!? :)

The first intended stop on our adventure was the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary - inside a little village that is flooded with these guys - it used to be that they were 'messengers from God' to the village people. Anyway, they have a home here in the forest and they are very friendly with people.  Well, people with bananas.

I love this photo!  They were everywhere in the trees...

Drew loved them - he was completely fascinated and is still talking about them!

They would literally peel the bananas and take bites
Brett got most of the monkey feeding duty - I tried one and didn't do it right so the monkey stole my entire banana.  :)  The pic above is as close as Chase would get.

We had a really great time here - maybe a spot I would get back to at the end of our time here when the kids are two years older.......we then spent a little time in the village before moving on.
